More Birthday Cards....A Busy Summer

Card for a Girl

I created these cards over the summer for two cuties around the same time. One for a boy turning 4 and the other for a girl's 1st birthday.  I used the same exact products, just different patterns and colors.  This is the perfect example for using some products for a boy or a girl. I did customize the cards by stamping the number for their age and adding a small 'st' or 'th" for 1st and 4th.  I used the patterned papers which I found more feminine for the girl and more masculine for the boy, however, this is the same Miss Caroline paper from My Mind's Eye (linked below). This is one of my favorite collections from MME

I used the little girl stamp from CC Designs.  It was my daughter who was invited, so I made this little girl represent her.  And yes, she originally had a pumpkin in her cart.  This was the summer, however, and I did not want them to have a pumpkin in the cart, so I used masking.  For more on masking check out this great video by Jennifer McGuire.  Instead of the pumpkin, I used the cupcake from Mimi and Miles Stamp set from Penny Black.  Masking is such a great way to expand the uses of stamps! The cupcake was much more fitting than the pumpkin!

How I did it:
  1. Selected my papers to use to help chose card stock, markers, embellishments, etc.
  2. Cut the card bases and patterned paper. Punch out whatever needs punched out.
  3. Stamped the Girl on the white card stock. When I inked the stamp, I excluded inking the pumpkin.  You can do this by putting a piece of tape over that part of the stamp you wish to exclude.
  4. I then put a post -it note on the wagon as to not stamp on the wagon, and stamped my cupcake on the paper.
  5. Die cut the yellow mat, the stamped image, and the pieces for the sentiments-inside and out.
  6. Stamp sentiments.
  7. Colored the image with copics.
  8. Assemble.

A Get Well card

I am always up for some playing with my stash!  This one is an experiment that I think turned out pretty well.  I just love the stamps from CC Designs. I am especially a fan of the Swiss Pixies and Sugarplums!  Here is Swiss Pixie Birgitta with a Sunflower (Not sure if it is still available).  I used Crate Paper's pattered paper for the background placed on New Leaf PTI cardstock.

Birgitta was colored with copic markers.  I always use either stickles or my Sakura stardust pens for the wings.  She is a fairy after all that flies with sparkly pixie dust!!! I use PTI White cardstock.  This one is cut in a rectangle and corners punched with ticket corner punch.  I stamped  the sentiment from a PTI stamp set and tucked it under Birgitta.   I added a piece of ribbon as the 1st layer before adhering my papers down.  The last step was to embellish with a button and some brads before adhering to my base.

Sexy and I Know It - Project Life

So, I have jumped on the Project Life band wagon.  4x6 insert from last year's book.  My daughter's fave song from that period was LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It".  I was in a clothing store looking at some clothes, turn to go, and look over and she tells me, "Look Mummy!  you need a bra?"  I ALMOST DIED OF LAUGHTER!!!!   Then she kept taking shirts and putting them over her head and checking herself in the mirror!  And yes, she did say tell me she was "Sexy and She knew it!"  And she is only 5! 4 at the time of this moment!!!

When I do my photo inserts for Project Life, I just copy and paste all photos into word and edit from there.  I size them 4 1/4"x 6 1/4"or 31/4"x 4 1/4" for room when cutting for my page protectors.  Here I took 4 photos and formatted them for a 4x6.  I think it was 3x6 and added the border punched paper for the title and journaling.  I layered the title with Stickers from Basic Grey.  I also added a piece of patterned paper slipped under the paper for more journaling.

Another Happy Birthday Card with Window

I TOTALLY LOVE THIS CARD!!!  I used a My Mind's Eye stamp set for the banners.  This was so easy and turned out great.  It is a window card, so I used a PTI die to cut out the window.  Steps to make this card:
1. Cut purple cardstock to standard A2 size.
2. Cut a piece of turquoise cardstock to 4"x5 1/4".
3. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 3 3/4"x4"
4. Stamp banners with coordinating colors across the page.
5. Adhere all pieces of cardstock layering appropriately.
6. Place die where you would like your window, and tape down with artist tape so when you run it through your die cut machine, it will not move.  Run through your die cut machine.
7. Stamp sentiment and punch layers for sentiment.  Adhere to your card.
8. Punch border layer and adhere (the bottom strip).
9. Embellish with buttons.
10. Give to the birthday girl or boy to make their day even more special!  ;)

Found after being M.I.A. for so long....

I have been a VERY busy gal. I have been working full time plus and my baby is in school, so I have been trying to be involved with her education. Christmas time is always a very busy for me personally and professionally. But I am bringing you a new scrapbook page today.

I have really gotten into Project Life by Becky Higgins and the concept is what I am mainly into. The pages aren't to bad and I love making many mini pages in one. On this page I made an 8" x 8" "cover page" for this year's book. I have typically did June to June in the past, but now I think I am going to change for 2013 to the calendar year. :)

This page is made with Graphic45's "Place In Time" collection. A beautiful collection. I used the 8" x 8" paper pad. All I did was gather 1 element from each month of the year and scattered them around the page. I added "Scene" Amy Tangerine thickets for the year and voila! Done! This will attract this year's book. LOVE IT!

OH BABY!!!

I have been very busy with things so I have not been blogging.  I have been enjoying the summer with my daughter and prepping her for her first year of school!!!  An exciting and little nerve wrecking time for me.  I do have a card for you today!

So, this year seems to be a year of babies!  Last weekend I went to a baby shower for my cousin and his girl friend and came up with this little card.  They are having a boy, so I wanted something neutral.  I also have TONS of leftover baby paper since having my daughter and a few baby stamps, so I wanted to make use of them!  This stamp is from Stampin' Up.  The set is retired, but I love the baby food jars.  I stamped them on Spring Rain card stock from PTI and colored them with my copics.  I then wanted a reflective effect, so colored them again with a glaze pen.  I love the effect.  I used the baby food jar patterned paper from ?.  The punches are from EK Success and Stampin' Up.  And the background for the stamped image is on a die cut from PTI dies.  The die is Fillable Frames #8.  The sentiment is a retired set from Stampin' Up also with SU brads.  Have a great day!

LOVING Project Life!

So, I have been scrapbooking now for about 10 years, and I am LOVING this new method.  I love how it can be no fuss and anything you want it to be.  I really love how I feel fine getting away with using different papers and patterns that normally I would not put together in the past.  It is as if each pocket or series of pockets is its own page in my eyes and I go with it.  In the end, it is telling OUR story.  Not just the milestones, big events, holiday, births, deaths, etc., but EVERYTHING.  Everyday- day to day.  I have not purchased any of the kits, but have bought the page protectors and journaling cards.  The cards are awesome to use as the background and spruce it up.  I have to say, my fave design team member is Michelle Wooderson!  Here blog is here. Her style is SO great.  She was an enabler for me signing up for Studio Calico's kit, too. (Grr :) Just kidding!)  I have always loved her PTI stamp designs, also.  So, until I can take piccies of my projects and post them, please check out her blog.  It is so lovely.

And if you are in Baltimore this weekend, you should visit the Inner Harbor area.  It is Sailabration! The city is celebrating the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner.  You can check out the details here. And trust me, the Blue Angels have been practicing.  I work in the city and you can clearly hear them.  :) Have a great weekend whatever you do and wherever you are.
